2022 Press Release #1 (Date: 1/17/2022)
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Vietnam United Football Club (VNUFC) kicked off 2022 with their 1st official board meeting of
new officers and advisors for the 2022 – 2023 term!
Dedicated community leaders endured frigid temperatures to gather and plan numerous
activities for the year. Following are some of the main events as the club’s board and
members continue to give back to the community.
First up – Over 40 club members will head to Florida in February to participate in the Orlando
Vietnamese Soccer Tournament. The hosting club, Lao Tuong Orlando, also came to Garland
in 2021 to play in the 2nd annual Dallas Asian American Soccer Tournament (DAAST).
Save the date - On July 9th and 10th, the club will be hosting their 3rd annual DAAST in Garland.
32 teams across the U.S. will gather at Winters Park to compete for the coveted trophy and a
years’ worth of bragging rights. Last year’s event had over 2500 people in attendance during
the two-day event. VNUFC and the City of Garland look forward to welcoming the local
community and its visitors as they cheer on their favorite teams!
In the works are plans for weekly youth soccer clinics led by members of the club. Participation
is free and highly encouraged for extracurricular fitness. Stay tuned as the board finalizes all
the details!
The board’s mission is to increase Asian American participation in soccer for health and
wellness while creating relationships and comradery. The organization strives to encourage
more Asian American participation in local, social and civic outreach programs that help
increase community awareness, improve Asian American representation and enhance the
quality of life.
